Youth For Music

Each year FHM puts on a regional honor band named "Youth For Music". This is held at Emporia State University and consists of a Middle School Band and a High School Band of up to 100 student musicians each. Students are nominated by teacher nomination and chosen by a round table of band directors from the schools of the students nominated. Excellent clinicians and an excellent concert round out a great event growing in nominations & competition each year.

Live In The Lot Summer Concert Series

Live in the Lot is a summer concert series hosted and coordinated by Flint Hills Music that is open to the public free of charge. This is typically a 6 week series In June & July on Friday evenings held downtown where a beer garden is provided and food vendors from the community come to show off local cuisine. Art activities via the Emporia Arts Council and special treats for kids to enjoy a great night dinner and live entertainment.

Symphony In The Flint Hills

Symphony in the Flint Hills is a great event with a rich tradition in Kansas. FHM supports this event by providing a musical instrument "petting zoo" each year where aspiring musicians, young and old, can try out woodwind, brass, orchestral string, fretted, and world instruments with the help of our staff.

Student Recitals

Our lesson studio provides great opportunities for local student musicians to gain performance experiences at any of 4 events held each year. This is free of charge to any students taking private lessons at FHM from one of our professional instructors.
